Lewis Amos Williams, age 95, of Macon, Georgia passed away peacefully on Monday, December 6, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Richard Kremer officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vineville Baptist Church, 2591 Vineville Avenue, Macon GA 31204.
Lewis was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late Ima and Amos Dave Williams. He was preceded in death by his son, Lewis Dave Williams. Lewis served in World World II in the United States Army Air Force, as a tail gunner. He was retired from Southern Railway as a Yard Superintendent Engineer. Lewis was a resident of Carlyle Place and a member of Vineville Baptist Church. He loved his family, fishing and creating beautiful paintings.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sara Webb Williams; niece, Betty Akins of Woodstock, Georgia and her husband, Bill; a great niece Julie King of Decatur, Georgia and her husband, Mark; a great nephew, Bill Akins III of Bentonville, Arkansas and his wife, Karen; and four great-great nephews, Owen, Myles, Henry and Oliver.
