Lucy was a member of Cross Keys Baptist Church, and later, of Highland Hills Baptist Church. Lucy sang in the church choir and was an accomplished organist. She loved gospel music and would hum all the time. She loved her family unconditionally—songs, coloring books, a happy face at the door, homemade fried chicken and cornbread fritters. Lucy was generous, had a great sense of style and a competitive spirit.
