Mary Eileen Batchelor (Moffitt), 71, was called home to glory on August 29, 2021. Eileen was the kindest and most charitable friend to many, and a stranger to no one. She was passionate in her faith, and lived her life to serve others. She was born in Mobile, AL but moved to Macon in early childhood. She spent her teenage years in West Palm Beach, Fl., graduating from Forest Hill High School in 1968. She always considered Macon, GA her home and returned to attend Wesleyan College, receiving a degree in Piano and Voice.
A life-long United Methodist, Eileen served the local church, the North Central District, and the South Georgia Conference through numerous boards and committees. She was a certified lay speaker and led many Sunday school classes, Bible Studies and youth events.
Eileen loved to teach piano and was a member of The Macon Morning Music Club. She was music director at Heritage United Methodist Church and was practice administrator at Internal Medicine Group. Eileen was a Wesleyan Alumna and affiliated with Macon Little Theater.
Eileen was preceded in death by infant sons, William Clayton and Stephen Taylor; her mother, Mary Lena Moffitt (Beck); father, William Penn Moffitt Jr. She leaves behind many cherished memories for her husband of 39 years, Jerry Batchelor; son, Brian Batchelor; brothers, Bill Moffitt (Kay) of Charleston, SC and Craig Moffitt (Lyuba) of Palm Beach, FL; sisters, Debbie Coyle (Jeff) Boynton Beach, FL, Jennifer Carbee (Steve) of Orlando, FL; eleven beloved nieces and nephews; and sisters of her heart, “The Clay Girls”, Ruth, Carol. Kathy, Patty, and Rosie.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 3, 2021 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
