Mary Margaret (Meg) Murray, age 61, passed away Wednesday, August 6th, at her home in Union Point, GA. Meg was a retired chemist for Foundation For Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases and was a volunteer for Road Trip Home Animal Rescue. She was also a jewelry designer. Meg’s hobbies included painting, traveling, and attending concerts, as well as, supporting her great nieces and nephews in their activities. She was a 1982 graduate of Clarke Central High School in Athens where she was a cheerleader. Meg was a gymnast and champion swimmer as a young girl through her teens.
Meg was born July 6, 1964 in Anderson, S.C. to the late Mildred and Richard Lane, Sr. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Harry Goodman of Abbeville, GA., her brother, Richard Lane, Jr. of Homer, GA., and her nieces, Gala (Jon) Bloodworth and Holly (Gary) Howell. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews Lindsay, Drew, Cason, Haley, and Jake, as well as, four great-great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11:00 in the Chapel of Snow’s at Macon Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 10:00 until service time. Pastor Joey Boney will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
