Some of my fondest memories will always be the summer visits spent with Mike, Faye and Carolyn at Granny and Granddaddy Bishop's in Thomaston. Along with our other cousins, from as far away as Pennsylvania,  we played so hard that Granny would have to make us come in at dark. Thomaston was not big in material things, but enormous in Love!
Rest in Peace my cousin (brother)! 

My father was a hard working man , always working long hours and sometimes 7 days a week, making sure my mom , sister and I had everything we needed. Then when his granddaughters came along he was making sure they had what they needed . Always the rock of the family. Now that I have been hearing others stories, how he touched so many others lives , I am so lucky that was my father . 

Michael E. Bishop voluntary served his Country bravely and proudly during the Vietnam War. When others ran off to Canada, he enlisted and fought for his country. He married the love of his life in Germany. He was a dedicated husband, loving father and grandfather. He told me on many occasions that his family welfare was his responsibility no matter how old they were. He loved to have his granddaughters close . When his wife passed away, he lost the love of his life. He visited her resting place and made sure she had flowers on her grave. His brother, Lamar Hughes would drive him to Macon often to bring flowers for his wife and sister. When he was too sick to come to Macon, he called me. He asked if I would put flowers on his sister and wife’s grave. I did. He asked how much they cost? I got a check in mail the next day. That was the kind of man my cousin was. He loved his family. His extended family. He paid his way. That was Mike’s job. Mike lived with my family for awhile growing up. He was like my little brother. We stayed close always. My backup has gone to be with his wife. Go rest high Mike.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers! Heaven grows sweeter every day! Love y’all!

We will see Cousin Michael Bishop again in Heaven !!!

He is survived by his daughters, Christina Standridge and Sandy Farmer, 3 grandchildren, Kassidy, Chelsea, Meghan, brother, Lamar Hughes, and sister, Linda “Faye” Nichols.
