

Mildred Burnley Bird, 89, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 surrounded by her daughters. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Powell officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Unity Baptist Church, Early Mortgage Retirement, 6025 Rogers Road, Lizella, GA 31052.
Mrs. Bird was born in Milledgeville, Georgia to the late John L. and Eulie Howell Burnley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse E Bird and siblings, Leon Burnley, Jackie Polk, Bill Burnley, and Betty Jane Schaffer. Mrs. Bird was a member of Unity Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed gardening and crafts. She was a devoted and loving, wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Brookdale Memory Care and Bolingreen Health and Rehab for the love and care given to Mrs. Bird.
She is survived by her daughters, Vikki B. (Danny) Thomas of Byron and Kathy B.(Gary) Ussery of Culloden, grandchildren, Christopher (Kristen) Thomas, Marc (Lynn) Thomas, Kary (William) Stewart, Greg (Amber) Ussery, great grandchildren, Kameron, Brannon, Christopher, Gregory, Kaitlyn, Rachel, Noah, Liam and step great grandchildren, JoJo, Jessie, Victoria, and Tryton and several nieces and nephews.
