

Mrs. Mildred was born to the parents of Mr. Booker Thomas Lee, Sr. and Mrs. Clara B. Gibson Lee on December 26, 1929 in Macon, GA. She joined the Unionville Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She was a very faithful and dedicated member, under the leadership of Dr. I. Edwin Mack. She was a member of the Senior Mission Ministry, she was the first coordinator of the Noon Day Bible Study, she was a faithful Sunday School participant and was very supportive in her giving of herself, time, talent, and resources. Mrs. Mildred deeply loved her pastor and first family. Mrs. Mildred received many honors and awards during her lifetime.
Mrs. Mildred attended Unionville Elementary School and graduated from Ballard High School on June 4, 1947. After graduation she went to live with her aunt Joann Gibson Robinson in Oberlin, OH, where she attended an all-black Nursing School. Mrs. Mildred worked from NY University Hospital, NY Presbyterian Hospital, and NY Cornell Hospital, working her way up from Registered Nurse to a Surgical RN.
Mrs. Mildred was a very caring and affectionate person. She had a smile that would just light up a room. In her previous marriage she had four children. After moving to Macon she met the love of her life Mr. Edward Jackson and they were united in Holy Matrimony on December 8, 1992. They were married 25 beautiful years. Dad often said it was love at first sight!
Mrs. Mildred leaves to cherish her memories, one brother, Mr. Booker T. Lee, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, R. T. Lawrence of New York; one daughter preceded in death, Enez Lawrence; one step-daughter, Rev. Sidney J. Watson of Macon, GA; two son, Joseph Lawrence of New York, Eddie Lawrence of Macon, GA; one step-son, Rev. Edward (Jennifer) Taylor; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
