"Papa" Louis Alex Harris, 94, went to be with his Lord on Monday, March 8, 2021. His life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 13, at 11 o'clock in the Mausoleum Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Jesse R. Liggins will officiate. Mr. Harris will be entombed along side his late wife, Leila. Friends and family are invited to visitation hours of 6 until 8 o'clock, on Friday evening at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home, or on Saturday morning, for the hour prior to service (10 - 11 AM) in the Mausoleum Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
Those attending services are asked to follow COVID - 19 social distancing practices and to wear a face covering.
"Papa" Louis was born in Aiken, South Carolina to the late Alexander and Carrie Cook Harris. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, and worked at the Atlanta Federal Building as a distribution clerk for the mail department. "Papa" Louis was a member of Middle Georgia Metropolitan Church in Warner Robins, Georgia.
Louis was preceded in death by his wife Leila C. Harris in 2012, and his many siblings, Robert Harris, Mamie Harris Kimble, Anna Harris Walker, John Henry Harris, William Phillip Harris, Daisy Harris Adside, Solomon Harris, and Henrietta Harris Johnson.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Thomasina (John) Middlebrooks, Felicia Kimble, Joyce (Dr. Jesse R. Liggins), a tremendous host of nieces and nephews.
