

FORSYTH – Robert Mid Batten, 72, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Carl Vinson Veterans Hospital, Dublin. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Brother Max Harrell and Rod Callahan will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Batten, son of the late Julius Benjamin and Ruth Yarbrough Batten, was born in Brooksville, FL. He served with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War retiring after two and a half tours in Vietnam. Mr. Batten was a diesel mechanic with Interstate National Truck Leasing. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mandy Hall and brothers, Ben Batten, David Batten and Sidney Batten and nephews, George Batten and Joseph Hall.
Survivors include his beloved family, his wife of fifty years, Barbara L. Batten of Forsyth; his children, Romona B. Foster of Forsyth GA, Cynthia D. Pilnicki of Griffin, GA and Robert S. Batten of Forsyth; his grandchildren, Johnny L. Fifer, Chris Foster, Zachary R. Pilnicki and Shelby Nicole Pilnicki; two great grandchildren, Joseph and Brayton Foster; his brother, Carnes Batten of Brooksville, FL; five sisters, Mary Ruth Groves and Susie Rehureck, of Brooksville, Henrietta O’Neal of Deland, FL, Stella Todd of Murfreesboro, TN and Sylvia Sunday of Brooksville, FL and several nieces and nephews.
