

Robert Ira Bell, 83, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Smith will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 170 sponsored by Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon, GA 31210.
Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Young Bell and by his parents, Ira and Lillie Bruner Bell. He served with the U. S. Army and was a civil engineer retiring from Robins Air Force Base. Mr. Bell served for thirty-five years with Boy Scout Troop No. 205 and was a Silver Beaver Recipient. During his tenure as Scoutmaster of Troop 205, more than thirty Scouts earned the Eagle Scout Award. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors his daughter, Sharon Bell (Barry) Franklin of Milledgeville; his sons, Bobby (Terry) Bell of Gray and Steve (Laura) Bell of Macon; his grandchildren, Matthew Franklin of Atlanta, Daniel Bell of Gray, Harrison Bell and Gracie Bell, both of Macon; his sister, Lillian (Ed) Rogers of Georgetown, TX; his sisters-in-law, Nita Johnson of Fitzgerald, GA and Fran Belle of Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews.
