Roger Lloyd Bowen, 79, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023. A Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 @ 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park, 3969 Mercer University Drive. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Gary Thomas officiating.
Roger was born in Jacksonville, Georgia to the late Walter Earl Bowen and Esmer C. Little Bowen and was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl J. Bowen, and Walter L. Bowen; and great granddaughter, Adisyn Dyer. He was a 1962 graduate of Willingham High School and was a retired Lieutenant from the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department after 32 years. Roger was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Lake Sinclair and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Etta Brown Bowen; sons, Stephen Douglas Bowen (Paula) of McIntyre, GA, and Timothy Wayne Bowen (Donna) of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren, Shelby Clay Bowen, Samantha Bowen Holliday (Khory), Sydney Bowen Dyer (Chase), Tristan Bowen; great grandchildren, Aristotle Dyer, and Emersyn Holliday; step-granddaughter, Rachael Ferguson; and several nieces and nephews.
