Mr.Ronnie Joe Billingslea was born on February 18, 1951 to the parentage of Willis and Eddie Ruth Billingslea. He attended school in the Bibb County Public School System. After graduating from Ballard-Hudson in 1969, he went on to attend The Fort Valley State College, where he obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in 1974. He later continued graduate school at The Fort Valley State College, where he received his Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling in 1982. Ronnie took pride in helping people young and old from all walks of life before and after retiring from the State of Georgia. Although Ronnie worked several different positions and held several different titles, his proudest and all-time favorite titles were husband, father, and grandfather.
While attending college, he met his college sweetheart and soulmate, Ruthie Mae. During their 51 years of marriage, Ronnie and Ruthie welcomed 3 beautiful children, 8 loving grandchildren, and 3 joyful great-grandchildren. Ronnie was also very welcoming and accepting of children in the community who needed a mentor, father figure, and helping hand.
On the morning of January 17th, with his devoted and loving wife by his side, Ronnie gained his well deserved wings. He was welcomed into Heaven with open arms from his parents, sister (Debra Plummer), granddaughter(Chelsea Butts), and great-grandchildren(Trenton and Triniti Brown). He is survived by his wife, Ruthie Mae; his 3 children, Sonia (Luther) Butts, Ron (Nicoya) Billingslea, and Pamela Billingslea; his grandchildren, Teylor (Treynae) Butts, Brianna Perkins, Amaya Billingslea, Jaylyn Billingslea, Alyssa Butts, Braydon Perkins, Raven Billingslea, and Brielle Perkins; his great-grandchildren, Kolton Brown, Harmoni Brown, and Landon Brown; baby sister, Brenda Billingslea, and a host of extended family and friends.
