Shirley H. Furse

Shirley Marie Mann Henshaw Furse, 81, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Bishop Ryan Dixon officiating. The family will meet friends on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon GA 31210.

Mrs. Furse was born in Chesterfield Co., VA to the late Alton P. and Mary H. Henshaw. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Clare Taylor Furse and her son and daughter-in-law, Alan David (Pearl) Furse, siblings, James R. Henshaw, Alton Eugene Henshaw, Alma Troy Henshaw, Carl Mitchell Henshaw, and Murial Jean Lonborg. Mrs. Furse was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she served in many positions including, Relief Society President, and the Young Women’s President. She was the ward choir director and the chorister for the church for 40+ years. Mrs. Furse and her husband were the directors of the Family History Center and also wrote and directed many roadshows and Christmas plays for the church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Mrs. Furse loved to travel with her family, music, Sunday night popcorn and chocolate.

She is survived by her children, Stephen Lee (Lynn) Furse of Canton, GA, Pamela Sue Furse Jones of Macon, Julie Lynn (Shannon) Allen of Antimony, UT, Jeffrey Scott (Tracy) Furse of Kaysville, UT, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Alvin (Maria) Henshaw and Walter (Audrey) Henshaw.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Pam Jones and Stacy Bailey for the constant care given to their mother and grandmother during the past six months. We will always be grateful for your sweet spirit.
