Sylvia Lanier Smith, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, July 5, 2016. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Grinstead officiating. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Waco, Georgia to the late William and Wordie Higgins Lanier and was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Smith; son, Alan Smith; and several siblings. She was a bookkeeper for several businesses and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith enjoyed working in her yard and travelling the world with her husband. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Survivors include her son, Gregory (Julyie) Smith; grandchildren, Zachary Smith and Kaylie (Matt) Jones; great grandson, Killian Smith; and brothers, Jim and Norman Lanier.
