William "Howard" Cone -MACON - William "Howard" Cone passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010 at a local hospital after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. Graveside services will be held at 4P.M. Sunday in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will meet friends and relatives from 3:00 P.M. to service time at the funeral home. Mr. Cone graduated from Charleston High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. He met and married the former Patricia Culverhouse while he was stationed at RAFB. -Mr. Cone retired from RAFB after 35 years of civil service. He was known to many of his co-workers as "Mr. Clean." He was an engine specialist having worked on C-130 and C-141 aircraft. After retiring you could find Mr. Cone out on his lawnmower landscaping the yard or in his shop working on many different projects.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Pat Cone; daughters, Tricia Cone and Cindy Cone (Brooks Parton); granddaughter, Sandy Ladson Land (Buck); grandson, Joseph Parton; great grandchildren, Jessica and Austin Knighten; brother, Henry F. Cone (Hazel) of Beech Island, SC; sister, Lois Knott of Beaufort, SC; sister-in-law, Jerry Cone of Charleston, SC, and several nieces and nephews.
Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery has charge of arrangements.
