His commitment to servicing others continued as a member of the Air National Guard from 1977 to 1998. Through his years of service -both military and civilian- he demonstrated loyalty, discipline, and an unwavering sense of responsibility.

Billy was lovingly known as "Big Daddy" , the patriarch for not only his family but his community. He was deeply devoted to all his loved ones, loving them fiercely and fully, offering steady guidance, constant presence and always eager for a game of sequence. He was a true treasure to all.
Billy was a man of strong faith. A lifetime member of Faith Baptist Church of Macon, GA. He was dedicated to his family and demonstrates his faith daily through actions and singing his favorite songs. He taught those around him the value of prayer by always leading his family in blessings.
Billy was also known as famously frugal, careful with a dollar and never one to waste anything. He believed in saving, fixing, repurposing and holding on to something "just in case". His hobbies included fishing, hunting, coin collecting, traveling with his wife, and antiquing.
He was quick witted with a playful sense of humor and a signature smirk. He loved reading the funny papers and delighted in matching family members to their cartoon characters, assigning personalities with a grin and a clever remark. His humor brought laughter to everyday moments and created memories his family will cherish always.
His legacy will live on in the lessons he taught, memories he created, and the generations who will forever carry his love.
Though he will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing his life was rich in love, rooted in faith and surrounded by the family he cherished most.
