MARBLEHEAD - Amedeo D’Alelio left behind his wife Deborah (Gourley), his daughter Emma Francesca and his son Amedeo Giovanni on August 31, 2021, after a 13 year epic battle with multiple forms of cancer.
Born to Lucia Camarata and Giovanni D’Alelio in Catania Italy, he spent his early years traveling the country and enjoying the Mediterranean lifestyle. With a love of the ocean he spent his youth on the beach and continued scuba diving for many years. He traveled all over the country with his father but when he was home with his mother, he grew up in Genoa. After serving in the Italian Navy, Amedeo set his sights on America.
He arrived in his early 20s to America, helping to build the early days of a pasta distributor. While doing so, he met Deborah on the job, fell in love and soon thereafter started their lives together.
With some years under his belt as a heavy equipment operator he then began his career of many years working for the town of Marblehead. In 2004, he left his position as town mechanic and took the opportunity to start his own American dream. After a lot of hard work, he started a livery car service which incorporated his passion of driving and swapping stories with his clients, some of whom became dear friends.
Driving was a lifelong passion that began very early on. Whether it be traversing America, Italy, and Europe always brought him great happiness. However, his greatest joy in life was his wife of 35 years and children.
His children, Emma and Amedeo G., wish to extend an invitation to gather at Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home in Marblehead, on Thursday April 7, 2022 to celebrate the lives of both Debbie and Amedeo. Visiting hours will be from 4 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, April 7 at Eustis and Cornell funeral home in Marblehead, MA. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.EustisandCornellFuneralHome.com for the D'Alelio family.
