

Mrs. Barbara L. (Rogers) Mace, age 78, of Marblehead, died on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers. She was the wife of Allen B. Mace, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. Born in the caretaker’s home at the Marblehead Lighthouse, she was the daughter of the late Edwin C. “Sparky” and Ivernia (Cheever) Rogers. Sparky was the last lighthouse caretaker. Barbara graduated from Marblehead High School and was a lifelong resident of the Town.
In addition to her husband, she leaves two sons Allen W. Mace, and Robert E. Mace and his wife Jayne, a granddaughter Abby Mace and a sister-in-law Karen Rogers all of Marblehead. She leaves two brothers-in–law Edward Mace of Salem and Thornton Torrey of Burlington, VT, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother-in-law of the late Pamela Mace and the sister of the late J. R. Rogers and Bobby Rogers.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held in the Eustis & Cornell Funeral Home 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to the North Shore Cancer Center, 102 Endicott Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
