Barbara S. Weston

MARBLEHEAD - Barbara (Rudd) Stenberg Weston, age 90, of Marblehead, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026. Known as “Gaga” and “Grammy Barbara” to those who knew her best, she was deeply loved by her family and friends.

Barbara was raised in Marblehead, where she attended local schools and spent many of her younger years on the water, swimming and sailing, developing a lifelong love for the ocean. She attended Centenary Junior College in New Jersey and the Chandler School for Women in Boston, where she studied to become a legal secretary.

Upon graduation, Barbara moved to Beacon Hill in Boston, where she met her future husband, John. They were married in 1959 and began their life together in Natick before eventually returning to Marblehead.

Barbara held a variety of roles throughout her career, including waitressing, working as a real estate broker, and serving as a legal secretary at Burt and Taylor International Law Firm in Marblehead. She later retired from Hale and Dorr in Boston.

In time, Barbara found love again with William Weston, and they shared many happy years together before his passing.

In her later years, she enjoyed the simple things, including taking her beloved dog, Bella, for a ride, grabbing an iced coffee, and sitting by the waterfront.

She is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Stenberg) Kirk and her husband, Fred; her grandchildren, John Kirk and Erika (Kirk) DiFranza and her husband, Zach; and her great-grandson, Theo DiFranza; her extended family, including William and Loren Weston; Deidre (Weston) Maroun and her husband, Christopher; her grandchildren, Peyton Weston, Anne Marie (Maroun) Seely and her husband, Kerry, Madelyn (Maroun) Allen and her husband, Landon, and Hayden Maroun and his wife, Morgan; and her great-grandchildren, Weston, William, and Walter Seely, and August Allen; her nieces, Liz (Hall) Callahan and her husband, Paul, Cinny (Hall) Noone, and Gail (Hall) Norton and her husband, Matt, along with their daughters, Allison (Norton) White and her husband, Jamie, and Kaitlin Norton, and Allison and Jamie’s children, Amelia and Camille; as well as relatives Greg Stenberg, Gordon and Janet Garney, Palmer and Susan Riedel, their families, and many dear friends. She is also survived by her dog, Bella, who was a special companion in her recent years.

She was predeceased by her husbands, John R. Stenberg and William M. Weston; her daughter, Sharon (Stenberg) Doyle; her sister, Harriette (Rudd) Nelson and her husband, Richard Nelson; and her grandson, Cale W. Weston.

Visiting Hours will be held on Monday, May 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Eustis & Cornell of Marblehead with a Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
