Hazel "Betty" Chandler was born on July 28, 1929. Her parents were Thomas and Florence Barker of Swampscott, MA. She attended Swampscott schools and was captain of the field hockey team. Betty and Frank met on the train to Boston and were married soon after. Frank had a job in California for North American Aircraft in LA. Not long after they returned to Marblehead where they worked for John S. Martin Co. on Cliff Street. Frank's father was ailing and they were there to help. The company was soon moved to 65 Pleasant Street where Betty was Vice President and ran the company with Frank.
Betty was a member of Old North Church in Marblehead. She was an avid traveler and photographer taking pictures and making friends round the world. She was a member of the Out of Focus Club that was organized by Bob Sinclair. That was her favorite batch of friends.
Betty loved to fly with my dad in his Cherokee, she even learned and took her test on the passenger's side. She even said just recently that she'd go to space if she could! They were out of New England Flyers in Beverly.
Betty loved to cook and was always trying new dishes.
