Herman W. Nickerson Jr.

Herman W. “Nick” Nickerson Jr., 84, retired Marblehead Police Officer of 32 years, passed away peacefully at his home on April 4, 2014. He was the husband of the late Ramona (Staniewicz) with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Marblehead, he was the son of the late Herman W. and Gertrude (Gove) Nickerson.

Raised and educated in Marblehead, Nick was a graduate of Marblehead High School, class of 1948 and later North Shore Community College. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army serving overseas in the Korean War. He was a loving husband and good family man who will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth Nickerson and his wife Claire of Bluffton, SC, Linda Faulkner and her husband Bruce of South Hamilton, and Debra Nickerson and her husband Robert Mealey of Norwood; a sister, Bernice Woodfin and her husband Ellis of Apollo, FL; two brothers, Ernest Nickerson and his wife Cecile of Lynn, and Eldon Nickerson and his wife Janice of Exeter, NH; his grandchildren, April Faulkner, Gregory Nickerson and his wife Allison, and Sarah Nickerson; a great-grandson, Henry Nickerson; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Winnie Estelle, Barbara Schimmel, and Leslie and Bradlee Nickerson.

A funeral service followed by interment in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead will be private. Arrangements by the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, Marblehead.
