

John J. Larkin, Jr., 90, of Marblehead, passed away at his home following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Barbara E. (McAskill) Larkin with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late John J. and Anna (Kivlan) Larkin Sr.
Raised and educated in Marblehead, he was a graduate of Marblehead High School. He worked as a plasterer throughout the North Shore for many years. John had previously played football for Marblehead High School and later the Salem Town Team, one of his greatest loves of his life. He also enjoyed spending time on his boat and being on the water.
John was a member of the Gerry 5 where he played pool and enjoyed their activities. Several times a week he would get together with friends and play cards and cribbage. He was a loyal friend and will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his daughter Dale Larkin of Madison, WI; and several nieces and nephews including, R. Paul McCauley and his wife Marion, Katherine Larkin, and Debra Dusenberry and her husband Thomas all of Marblehead, Stephen McCauley and his wife Karen of Plymouth, Paula Monfalcone and her husband Tony of Marlboro, and Patricia Dearborn of the South Shore.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead on Saturday, January 9 at 10AM followed by burial in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the Gerry 5 Angels Fund, 210 Beacon Street, Marblehead, MA 01945. Arrangements by Eustis and Cornell of Marblehead.
