

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Rocco and Kathleen (Donegan) Raimo. He graduated from Swampscott High School and from Northeastern University. During WWII he served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army.
John worked in the G.E. River Works Aircraft Engine Group as an engineer. John enjoyed sailing his boat and teaching the neighborhood children how to fish. He enjoyed golfing and ski trips with family and friends. John was also an avid Boston sports fan and he loved watching his son Charlie play sports from a young age through college, later his two grandchildren. Also John and his wife enjoyed many trips to Bermuda and St. Croix with family and friends.
He was the father of twin sons, Christopher Raimo of Marblehead, and the late Charles Raimo. He also leaves a sister Frances McKenna of Danvers, a daughter-in-law Paulette Raimo of Marblehead, two grandsons John and Nolan Raimo of Marblehead, and two sisters-in-law Martha McGhee of Peabody and Marion McGhee of Salem.
Visiting hours will be held in the Eustis & Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead, on Saturday, April 16, 2016, from 11AM to 2PM. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be private. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Marblehead Veterans Donation Account, Attn: David Rodgers, or to a charity of one’s choice.
