
Lavinia Pillsbury Crocker, 96, of Marblehead, passed away at the Blueberry Hill Nursing Home in Beverly on December 5, 2010. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Josiah H. and Grace (Pillsbury) Crocker.
Raised in Salem, she was a graduate of Northfield Academy, Gordon College, and Boston University. Lavinia first worked as an ordained Baptist Minister doing missionary work throughout the northeast, and later worked as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until her retirement in 1978. She enjoyed those years on Front Street in Marblehead watching the scenery and the changing views at the mouth of the harbor.
She is survived by her cousins, Phyllis England of Durham, NH, Marilyn Mills and her husband Jerry of Lebanon, ME, Elizabeth Roy of Concord, NH, and George England of Kensington, WA. She also leaves two close friends, Ronald Arthur of Wenham, MA, and Elizabeth Dodge of Ashland, MA.
A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, 57 Orne Street, Salem on Thursday, December 16 at 11AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lavinia’s memory to the Salvation Army, P.O.
