

Raymond E. Lovekin Jr., 87, of Marblehead, MA, formerly of Rising Sun, MD, passed away at home on March 2, 2012. He was the husband of Gloria (Griffith) Lovekin with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond E. and Katherine (Darlington) Lovekin.
Raised and educated in Ridley Park, PA, he was a graduate of Ridley Park High School, and Kings Point Academy in NY. He served his country in the American Merchant Marines in Oceangoing Service, a period of Armed Conflict during WWII. He worked in industrial advertising, first for his father at R.E. Lovekin Inc., the largest industrial advertising in Philadelphia, and later for the Chester-Jensen Company. He loved boating from the time he was one with his father on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Lovekin is survived by two sons, Raymond E. Lovekin III and his wife Dorothy of Springfield, PA, and James Lovekin of Brookhaven, PA; one daughter, Laura Elser and her husband Paul of Marblehead, MA; a sister, Sylvia Lehmann of Apex, NC; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also pre-deceased by two grandchildren; James L. Lovekin Jr. and Ashley V. Elser. He was also the brother of the late David and Marjorie Lovekin.
Funeral services for Raymond will be private. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
