

Raymond F. Mace Jr., 85, formerly of Marblehead, passed away on May 26, 2013. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Hardwick) Mace with whom he shared 29 years of marriage. Born in Marblehead, he was the son of the late Raymond F. and Marion (Graves) Mace.
Raised and educated in Marblehead, he was a graduate of Marblehead High School. He then enlisted in the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Harwood during the Korean War. Following his service, Ray worked as a machinist for Tru Connector in Peabody for many years. He was an all around sportsman, but he loved his golf the best. Ray was one of a kind with a great sense of humor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Tommy Mace and his wife Kathy of West Wareham, and Richard Mace and his wife Missy of Stoneham; three grandchildren, Aaron and Kerry Mace, and John M. Gemma Jr.; three step-children, Joanne, Donald, and James; two step-grandchildren, Hannah and Samuel Cunha; and several nieces and nephew. He was also the husband of the late Barbara Hardwick, and Flora Brienzo; father of the late Sherry Ann Gemma; and brother of the late Audrey Christensen, and Jerry and Dana Mace.
A graveside service will be held at Waterside Cemetery, 294 West Shore Drive, Marblehead on Friday, May 31 at 11AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ray’s memory to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.
