

Sally A. (Burlingham) Hulsman, 78, of Marblehead, passed away at the Devereux House on February 12, 2011. She was the wife of Retired Marblehead Police Officer Douglas Hulsman with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Marblehead, she was the daughter of the late Howard F. and Annie (Blaney) Burlingham.
Sally was a graduate of Marblehead High School where she received several awards for baton twirling. She was a proud homemaker who loved children, not only her own, but all the neighborhood children that spent time at her home or babysitting at theirs. Sally enjoyed bird watching around town, bowling, and most especially Bingo. She was also an avid Bruins fan.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, John Hulsman of Danvers, William Hulsman of CA, and Linda Hartford of Bradford; her brother, Robert Burlingham and his wife Barbara of FL; four grandchildren, Robert, Amy, and Kelly Hulsman, and Jason Root; three great-grandchildren, Cade, Samantha, and Jacob; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Jean Kontos.
A funeral service will be held at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Monday, February 21 at 11AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visitation will begin at 9AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sally’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
