Stanley Evans Waitt

SANDOWN, NH / MARBLEHEAD - Stanley Evans Waitt, age 89, of Sandown, NH, formerly a longtime resident of Marblehead, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb 23, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Ruth Waitt with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.

Born in Swampscott, MA, Stanley was the son of the late Lawson and Gertrude (Morrissey) Waitt. Stanley is survived by his 4 children and their spouses: Sandra Logan and her husband, Michael, Carlton Waitt and his wife, Gail, Robert Waitt and his wife, Katy and Robin Breda and her husband, David, his 8 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He is the dear brother of the late Ronald Waitt. Stanley grew up in Marblehead, MA, graduated from Marblehead High School with the class of 1951. He raised his family in Marblehead, MA.

He was a dedicated member of the U.S. Navy from 1952-1960 (four years active duty and four years in the reserves). While serving he graduated from Machinists Mates School at the U.S. Naval Training Center on Nov 25, 1953, in Great Lakes, IL. During his time at the U.S. Naval Training Center, Stanley was chosen out of his recruit company to receive the Honor Man Certificate on Feb 21, 1953.

Following his active duty, Stanley completed the three-year General Electric Apprentice “A” Training Program graduating on Feb 9, 1960. He had a very successful career as an engineer with General Electric in Lynn, MA.

He always wanted to go into carpentry as a young man, and following retirement bought several fixer upper homes to occupy his time. He enjoyed boating and fishing (deep sea and lake) with friends and family. After retirement he spent most of his time with his wife/best friend, Barbara, travelling, motor cycling, snowmobiling, riding jet skis, kayaking, and spoiling dogs. He could always be found feeding the dogs treats from the table when he thought no one was looking. He was a kid at heart and cherished his time with family playing with his many toys or out looking for new toys to tinker with.

A graveside service celebrating both Stanley and Barbara's lives will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead, attendees to gather inside the main gate at 294 West Shore Drive at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the New Hampshire SPCA, 104 Portsmouth Ave, Stratham, NH 03885 or via https://nhspca.org/.
