

Thomas P. Sullivan, 72, Retired Marblehead Police Officer, passed away at his home on July 27, 2011 following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Miriam (Snow) Sullivan with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Medford, he was the son of the late Thomas P. and Agnes Sullivan; and the step-son of the late Anne Sullivan.
Raised and educated in Marblehead, he was a graduate of Marblehead High School, and later he received his Associate’s Degree in criminal justice from North Shore Community College. Tom was a Marblehead Police Officer for 36 years. After his retirement he worked for the Marblehead Harbormaster for ten years. He also worked as a funeral attendant at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home. Tom was a member of the Marblehead Yacht Club and a former member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He loved fishing and anything to do with the ocean.
In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by two children, Thomas D. Sullivan of Marblehead, and Linda S. Spellman and her husband Peter of Topsfield; a brother, William A. Sullivan and his wife Mary of Danvers; a sister, Elizabeth Kennedy of Marblehead; three grandchildren, Luke, Elijah, and Anna Spellman; and two cousins, Kathy Byrne of Marblehead, and William B. Sullivan of FL and NH. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Monday, August 1 at 11AM. Burial to follow in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 4-7PM.
