William R. Brockhurst, age 55, died as a result of a brain aneurysm on Monday, May 10, 2010. He was the husband of Eileen (Fitzgerald) Brockhurst, his wife of 25 years. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Robert and Patricia Brockhurst. He was raised in Marblehead and graduated from Denver University in 1976.
Bill was the owner of Brockhurst Marine Electronics in Marblehead for 25 years. He was an avid sailor and especially loved being with his sons on his boat, Gemini. He was in his element whenever he was on the water.
A friend referred to Bill as a quiet hero. He had a firm sense of what was right and always did more than what was asked. His whimsical sense of humor kept us laughing and you never heard about his troubles. We wish Bill could be with us again, sail with us again.
He leaves his wife, Eileen, his sons Robert and Michael, his sisters Ann Warde and her husband Thomas of Sun Valley, ID and Betsy Brockhurst of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, FL, his brother-in-law Jack Fitzgerald and his wife Susan, and his sisters-in-law Anne Fitzgerald-Clark and her husband Lou Clark of Swampscott, and Kathleen Fitzgerald of Swampscott.
Memorial donations may be made to The Brain Aneurysm Foundation (http://www.bafound.org/research/index.php) or Massachusetts General Hospital research (http://www.massgeneral.org/give/giftatwork/Default.aspx). A memorial was held on Saturday, May 15.
