He was born October 20, 1947 in Wyoming, IL to Miles “Pete” and Nellie (Mapes) Colwell. On April 25, 1969, he married Dawn Polnow in Woodstock.
Chuck was a SeaBee in the Navy during Vietnam. Following his service in the Navy, he worked for Arnold Engineering for 20 years. He was a White Sox and Bears fan.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn; his daughter, Charlie (Mitch) Zanker; his son, Buck Colwell; and his grandchildren, Brandon, Mitchell, Miranda, Taylor, and Carson.
His was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Susan Montgomery, Marcella “Tootie” Cosby, and Mary Acup; and his brother, Jim Colwell.
A memorial visitation will be held from 7-8pm on Tuesday, September 4 at Zion Lutheran Church, 412 Jackson St., Marengo, IL. A memorial service will follow at 8pm.
