

Frances J. “Fran” Sliva, 75, of Marengo died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Centegra Hospital, Woodsock. She was born March 7, 1939 in Chicago. On November 11, 1972 she married Lou Sliva. She worked as a bookkeeper for JT Screw Machine in Melrose Park for 30 years before her retirement. She was an avid golfer, loved movies and had an awesome movie collection. Having a “heavy foot”, Fran was an avid speeder and had a long relationship with the State licensing agency.
She loved to dance, laugh with her kids and was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Lou; children: Edward (Bobbie) Palakie, Ronald (Annie) Palakie, William (Karen) Palakie, Cathy (Edward) Johns; ten grandchildren: Eddie, Christopher, Tommy, David, Kristen, Samantha, Rhiannon, Jordon, Meghan, Erik; three great-grandchildren: Angelica, Sakura, Amalina; sister Florence (Richard) Duncan. She is preceded in death by her mother Mildred, her aunt Elsie, her sister Norma.
Visitation will be from 10 am until the 2 pm memorial service on Saturday, June 21 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy. Marengo. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Marengo First Assembly of God, 22817 W. Grant Hwy. Marengo.
