He was born April 24, 1932 in Amarillo, TX to Harris and Jewel (Scales) Kimbrough, SR., and resided there for half his life. He attended Yale University and the University of Texas before receiving his D.D.S. at Baylor Dental College in Dallas, Texas.
Harris proudly served as a Lt. in the US Navy, where he served in the Philippines. He then practiced dentistry with a focus in TMJ and nutrition. On April 24, 1977 he married Diane Henslee in Hankins, NY. They moved to Marengo, IL in 1978. Together they led seminars in Homeopathy and dentistry, including the WGSTD group for 37 years. He shared a deep and loving fellowship with these doctors and they were his extended family. The compassion he felt for his patients’ wellbeing was immeasurable, as he dedicated his work to nurturing the whole person.
His Christian faith and his involvement in AA was very important to him and impacted many lives, based on the “Four Absolutes” absolute honesty, absolute purity, absolute unselfishness, and absolute love. He was very blessed to be a member of Westminster Presbyterian church in Elgin. Harris was a proverbial DIY’er, he was doing projects at home long before it was the thing to do.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Diane and his children Katrina (Dale) Elliott, Ned Kimbrough, Mike (Jeanette) Kimbrough, Kristi (Kurt) Scharrenberg, Cinamon Kimbrough, Scott (Kristen) Kimbrough along with 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. His parents, his sister and his daughter, Robin Kimbrough, preceded him in death.
He will be greatly missed.
