He was born September 18, 1949 in Elgin to Hugh and Mildred Cameron.
James was an extremely intelligent guy, as well as a very proud union man starting in his early 20's working nation wide construction underpinning. Settled down at age 26 when getting together with his wife Donna and joining Union Local 582 in 1979, becoming the Vice President for 6 years before retiring in 2003.
In his years working construction he learned all the trades - electric, plumbing, brick laying, concrete, landscaping, roofing and carpentry-which was the hardest for him, though he used all the skills in his everyday life never calling anybody in for contracted work.
James also did all the mechanics never took a vehicle in for repair in his entire life, which also included putting new tires on the rims, and welding new mufflers on. He even cut and permed his wife Donna's hair - there was not one thing he would not try. He learned to cast aluminum and made motorcycle stands and many other gadgets, if he didn't know how to do something he would research and try until he got it.
He made a large candle machine to decorate the outside of candles while he was in Boston, but put it on the back burner to go after so many more projects.
James loved and was a part of Donna's orchids, plants, and vegetable garden always encouraging her to start more by seed. He made concrete swan planters & Donna painted them calling them Donna's swan planters.
He was very proud of all his accomplishments giving him a feeling of great success. His latest success was acquiring his dream home on a 5 acre estate out in the country, something that took longer than he wanted but he did it all together with his wife Donna of 46 years. It brought James so much joy, while it was just the two of them they loved each other deeply spending the last 18 years happily doing everything together, in quiet solace they would look at each other and say we did it, this is all ours.
James will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Donna, her extended family, and their dear friends.
A celebration of James' life will be held at a later date.
