

He was born July 16, 1952, in Chicago to Joseph and Frances (Krause) Charles.
He worked at Marengo School District 165 for 13 years. Jim enjoyed photography, was an artist and could fix anything. Most of all he had a passion for music. He was a local musician who played the banjo, guitar, and tin whistle. He was known for his skip and yodel.
He is survived by his siblings, Mary (Bill) Severinghaus, Eileen (Robert) Bower, Peter (Lynne) Charles, Joseph (Laurie) Charles, John (Vicki) Charles, William Charles, and Fran Charles; his aunt, Helen Stern; and many other close friends, family and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ellen Moore.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo. Burial will be at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 16, at Marengo City Cemetery.
