Lois J. (Beebe) Garcia

Lois J. Garcia (Beebe), 91, of Marengo, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, surrounded by her family. Lois was born on February 24, 1935, to Laverne and Henrietta Beebe in Belvidere, Illinois. Lois was raised in the Marengo community, where she went to school and worked various jobs. From a child, she attended Marengo United Methodist Church and instilled those same values into her own children. Lois loved her family very deeply, but she especially admired her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Lois taught all her grandchildren how to search for a four-leaf clover with a stick. Unbeknownst to them, it was just to keep them busy. It came to fruition when Lois was recently admitted into the ICU at the hospital and her great-great grandchild Alexandra went outside to the parking lot during a visit and found a four-leaf clover waiting for her. That four-leaf clover soon found its way inside to be with Lois.

Lois is survived by her children, Julie Mapes, Betty (Adolfo) Rangel, and Randy (Kris) Mapes; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 6.5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Crozier and 3 nieces; husband, Ismael Garcia; many extended relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne and Henrietta; grandsons, Juan Pueblo Mapes and Juan Gasca.
