Margaret Mary Wedell

She was born April 5, 1924 in Chicago to Owen and Bridget (Hopkins) O’Malley. On September 4, 1948 she married Robert C. Wedell in Chicago.

She was a resident of Barrington for many years before retiring to Bermuda Dunnes, California. She and her husband relocated to Marengo where they resided for the last 10 years. She was a proud homemaker who loved her family and friends dearly. She was a lifelong Cubs fan.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert; her children, Robert Emmett Wedell, James (Susan) Wedell, Mary (Anthony) Ficarelli, Nancy (Timothy) Brocker, and Julie (Todd) O’Connor; her grandchildren, Colleen, James, and Joseph Wedell, Meghan Ficarelli, Erin, Kristin, and Caitlin Brocker, and Thomas, Kathryn, Patrick, and Brendan O’Connor; her brother, Michael (Jeanne) O’Malley; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Catherine (William) Heffernan.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm on Thursday, September 20, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo. A wake service will be at 7pm. Visitation will continue from 9:30am until prayers are said at 10am on Friday, September 21 at the funeral home. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N. Taylor St., Marengo.

Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
