Mattie Jo Bailey

Mattie Jo Bailey, age 85, of Marengo, Illinois passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Mattie was born February 21, 1937 in Bloomington, IL to Matthew and Madeline Ray. On December 24, 1976 she married Chuck Bailey.

Mattie Jo enjoyed her swimming pool in the summer, her flowers, and her dog, Maggie Mae. She always loved taking a drive with her husband to just see what they could discover. They also collected rocks together. Mattie Jo was a member of Victory Rock Fellowship. Her faith and church family were very important to her and she would read scripture every morning. She was a loving mom and grandma.

Mattie Jo is survived by her children, Denise Steurer, Julie Davis; her grandchildren, Coty and Ryan Steurer, Jeremy (Jennifer) and Jaime Garza; her great-grandchildren, Ziaya Garza, Austin and Tristian Garza; her sister, Verda McCartney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; her grandson, Austin Garza; and her siblings, Robert, Patricia, Val, and Juanita.

There will be a visitation from 10am to Noon on Tuesday, April 12 at Victory Rock Fellowship, 20503 Telegraph St, Marengo. Funeral service will follow at Noon.

Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
