He was born Jan. 14, 1943, in Chicago, to Edward and Lillian (LeBeau) Rooney. On Sept. 13, 1975, he married Barbara Ann Barr in Palatine.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany in 1967.
He had been a resident of Marengo since 1978. He was a horse enthusiast who loved owning, showing and riding horses. He enjoyed sports with his sons.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his sons, Scott and Kyle Rooney; his brother, Edward Rooney; his sisters, Madeline (William) Connor and Elise (Edward) Helgesen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Donald, Renald and Robert Rooney.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Highway, Marengo. The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the funeral home. Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park.
