She was born Dec. 13, 1960, in Belvidere, IL, to Vernon and Verda (Ray) McCartney.
Susan was a 1979 graduate of Marengo Community High School and was Miss Marengo that same year in the Harvard Milk Days Queen competition. Susan worked for many years in the Kane Co. area as an insurance investigator in the field of medical fraud.
She is survived by her mother, Verda McCartney of Huntley; three brothers, Donald McCartney of Forest Park, Dr. David & Xiaofang McCartney of Naperville, and Philip & Tina McCartney of Belvidere; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon and a sister, Kathleen Ann McCartney.
Visitation will be from 9am to 10:30am on Thursday, March 4, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Highway, Marengo. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N. Taylor St., Marengo. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Due to current guidelines, there will be a maximum of 50 people in the funeral home at one time and at the church for the Mass. Facial coverings are required.
