Suzanne M. (nee Schuett) Schuman, age 91, of Lake in the Hills, passed away on Friday evening, January 28, 2022, at her home in Palm Desert, CA with daughter Sue and her husband Joe at her side. Suzanne was born in Evanston, IL on May 10, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Henry & Mildred (nee Phillips) Schuett.
She graduated in 1948 from Arlington Heights High School where she met, then later married her high school sweetheart, the late George F. Schuman Jr. on March 22, 1952. Later she and George founded Stonegate Farm Nursery and Landscaping in Algonquin where she ran the office and kept everything organized; in the mid 70's they moved the nursery operation to Poplar Grove, IL. For many years she was a member of St John's Lutheran Church, Algonquin, and later St John's Lutheran Church in Union, IL. She loved her family, fishing with George, and golfing.
Survivors include daughters, Lynn Schuman of Texas, Virginia (Craig) Summerkamp Sr. of Marengo, Sue (Joe) Schuman-Niedermeier of Pecatonica, and Patricia (lowell) Thompson of Cherry Valley; also grandchildren, Suzanne Ball, Jessica Schuman, Morgan Ball, Samuel (Emily) Ball, Joseph (Tiffany) Ball, Zachary Ball, Craig (Edith) Summerkamp Jr., Daniel (Piper) Summerkamp, Steven Summerkamp, Sanda Rogers, Jacob (Kyra) Rogers, Sig (Elise) Thompson, Lowell (Amy) Thompson II, Cutler Thompson; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband George, she was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Luke Rogers.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 18 from 9:30am to 11am at St. John's Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St., Union, IL 60180, funeral service to follow at 11am. Interment following at Union Cemetery, Union, IL. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. John's Lutheran Church in Union or to a charity of one's choice.
