As my birth mother explained it, Alex single-handedly saved her life while we she was pregnant with me. In turn mine as well. She struggled with a lot of depression, drug use, and anxiety; amongst other things, and kept her alive and well during her identity struggles. He made sure she was healthy, stayed on top of things, and supported her through the whole pregnancy. 

Hi. My name is Chris. I was given my middle name at birth to resemble the heart and soul-the spark of Alex sparked in my birth mother’s life, and in the way I experience life. I’ve been told something about me draws other’s around when I connect with others, and now I know it’s Alex’s presence within my spirit. 

I’m so sorry I never got to meet and learn from you, but I’m 25 now with a career in nursing, so I hope you’re proud of me from where you lay rest. I carry you with me everyday. What an honor it would have been to meet my Godfather and embrace the love you shared with everyone around you. 

As someone who is actively apart of the LGBT community in central Indiana, it’s difficult to stay true to myself and strong against the hatefulness I face everyday, but knowing sacrifices were made to ensure I could have a fair chance in life is what keeps me going most days. If heaven ever allows it, I would thank you personally, Alex, for giving me the opportunity to spread my truth and awareness. Healing this world one warm conversation at a time. 

All the love to the family I was never able to meet through Alex. I hope y’all have healed enough that the conviction of his passing isn’t overwhelming, and understand he’s close in memory, and closer in a paid-forward example of kindness, and agape. May grace heal you, and Love liberate you in steadfast embrace.

Oh Alex, what a wonderful man to have known!!!! We dated for a little while before I had to move back to Indiana, and I named my son after him, him being my sons Godfather. I am honored to have known and loved him, and to have my son carry his name. I wish he couldve met his Godson in person, but one day in Heaven, he will!! His Godsons name is Christopher Alex, and is 18yrs old. And I have told him since he could understand, what a wonderful man his Godfather is/was! .. All of my sympathy and condolences to his darling Mother, Brother and Family!! This new news to me is definitely a heart breaker for sure!!

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Alex at Wal-Mart for 3 years. We all went out as a group on Friday nights. We would go bowling, or go play pool or just as a group be together. I lost track of Alex and always wondered what he was doing. He was always in my thoughts. I loved Alex but he did not feel the same. He told me we would always be friends. He was a good friend to me. He came to my father's funeral without me even asking him. He was an awesome and beautiful man. This world will be changed but Heaven will be more glorious because he is an angel watching out for family and friends and I hope me! May God bless you and keep you in His loving arms.

Mrs. Eichmann, Eric, Otto, and Chrissy, I am deeply saddened and affected by what has happened to Alex! I give you my deepest sympathy for your loss of precious Alex. This is Michele - I dated Alex off and on from August 8, 1993 to October 2001. Even though it has been years since I have seen or talked to Alex, I still am so heart broken.        
     I met Alex while we were both working at the old Walmart on Copans Road. We were friends for a short time and then we became a couple. Alex was always there for me through all the ups and downs of life, he never let me down! Alex truly had a heart of gold - kind to everyone, great listener, the gentlest spirit, always desired the best for everyone, very thoughtful, and sensitive. 
     Anyone who ever knew Alex will never forget his quirky sense of humor. He would say some of the most "off the wall" things and leave me laughing to no end. Whenever I was with Alex, I knew it was going to be a fun time with a bunch of laughs.
     One of the greatest blessings of my time I spent with Alex, I got to know and spend time with your family. Mrs. Eichmann, I will always remember those special times with your family: Easter dinners, Christmas holidays, New Year's Eve 2000, St. Vincent Masses....and just the nice visits to enjoy each other.
     The Eichmann family is an incredible family with a strong faith in God. Mrs. Eichmann, your devotion and love for God is so evident in good times and bad times. It is at times like this, that make us realize what is really important in life: family, friends, faith, and love. May God comfort your family during this so difficult time. In many of the cards Alex gave me, he would close by writing "Stay close to God." Oh, how true this is!
     I want you to know that Alex will be deeply missed. He was an amazing gift from God! I will never forget the times we spent together. Alex will be in my heart forever! God Bless!

We have just heard the shocking news about Alex. Our hearts r completely broken for u'r family.  Words can't express r sadness.  I ask for God to give u all peace and strength and I will pray that the person who did this is captured. Carol Agronow and Matt & Chris Barrass and families.

 I met Alex in the 90s working together at the Copans Walmart. Alex always had  A big smile, great work ethic, and could zone the toothpaste and shampoo aisle like nobody's business.  I could never understand how he could hold down two full-time jobs at the same time. He always had long-term plans and a purpose for everything he did.  The customers would drive me nuts and he would just  find a joke to tell and make me laugh the whole thing off. I believe God has important work for Alex to do now. I will miss him.

I worked with Alex for 17 years at Walmart,the last four years side by side in the pharmacy and health and beauty departments. He was a wonderful person and an exceptionally hard worker. He also had a really great sense of humor, and I still miss his joking around each night. I still think of things I want to tell him and then I remember he's not here physically with us any more. I know that he is in a better place now away from the sufferings of this world, yet all of us who knew and loved him are missing him terribly. We will never forget you Alex.

We became friends through Publix on Sample...I remember hanging out with Alex and Jerry, Diane, Janine, Chris, etc. Also at St. Thomas after school with Tony, Jerry, Mark...so many memories. I used to play pickup soccer on the Mullins Park fields back in the late 70s and 80's. Nobody could possibly forget the fluidity and. composure of watching the Eichmann brothers playing the game they were irrefutably born to play. Alex could not have been more than 13 then; Eric, the older brother stood out like a pro among children. I never knew either brother on a more personal level, but the simple fact that both were a part of my weekly regiment so long ago, makes me glad I caught just a small glimpse, This is the saddest of sad days and I fear the sorrow you must endure shall linger for a long time. My sister and I both attended St.Thomas Aquinas H.S. and remember Alex fondly. As athletes in cross-country and track we formed a strong bond and comrarderie with fellow athletes at STA. Many a time we would frequent cheering on and hanging out with the STA soccer team and Alex was no exception. He was a great guy and he stood out for sure with his kind eyes, friendly smile, and good nature. He was a determined and great athlete with whom we admired. What a heart-breaking tragedy! We are saddened for the loss of a great friend. Justice will prevail my friend! Although it has been many years since the STA days, it is a testament to the beautiful person and soul Alex is, because it's as if time has stood still. Alex will never be forgotten. No words can take away the pain and loss of a loved one, but we wish the family comfort in knowing that It was an honor to have known Alex whom is greatly respected!

I would come in every morning before starting work at 6am.  You were always smiling, and always willing to help me find a cosmetic. He was a flashy player. But even a better person and friend in college......
