Eliana Lormeus was born Eliana Telisnor on January 9, 1944, in Fortin 6th section of Saint Louis du Nord and she passed away on July 25, 2023 at 4:19AM. She was a widow at the time of death, but she married Escament Lormeus in early 1970. She came to join him in the United States in April 1997. Besides her faith in God and taking care of her children, business was her hobby. She was a businesswoman who knew when to buy and when to sell. She was an honest retailer. Though she was not intellectually educated, she was a smart investor who bought gold, jewelry, and real estate when they were selling at a bargain. She was a great cook who taught all her children how to cook. She used to always say to her male children “VINI NAN KIZIN NAN POU NOU KA APRANN FÈ MANJE, POU KE NOU PA MANJE FATRA NAN MEN MOUN E POU NOU KA KONNEN GOU BOUCH NOU”. She loved to worship and praise God. Even on her deathbed, she was praising God. Her life on earth has taught us a lot of lessons.

In September 2021, she fell ill. It was a long journey that entailed numerous doctor visits and hospital admissions, but she remained strong and courageous. She fought her hardest and her faith in Jesus Christ never failed.

She was a champion who raised and educated her children while her husband was abroad, a hero who went above and beyond to protect her children, and a hard-working mother who always provided for her family. Her faith in Christ and her children always remained the priority. Her love for her children was impartial and she always gave attention to her children where attention was needed. She treated everyone who lived under her roof like her child and meant well to everyone around her. She was a loyal and prudent woman. She was a peaceful woman. Another thing she used to tell us is” PA JANMEN FÈ LÈNMI POU MWEN PASKE BONDYE AP KONBAT POU MWEN.”

She was a loving spouse, sister, mother, grandmother, daughter, auntie, niece, cousin, In-law, and friend. She left a big void in us that we know can only be filled with the love of Jesus Christ. She was a welcoming individual who treated everyone around her with dignity and respect; she was also a generous woman who gave freely with no strings attached. She encouraged us to love and respect family, neighbors, and even strangers. She also used to tell her boys “SI NOU PA KA MARYE AK YON FI PA ANTRE NAN RELASYON AVEK LI”.

One phrase to describe Eliana Lormeus is:

“ELIANA LORMEUS WAS A VIRTUOUS WOMAN.”

If she was able to hear and see each and everyone of you who gathered today in this venue she would have been very happy and said thank you, because she loved fellowship. One of her favorite verse in the Bible was “ Exodus 14:14 Senyè a ap goumen pou nou. Nou menm, poze san nou.” May her soul rest in peace while waiting for the second coming of Jesus Christ.
