Mr. A. J. Harkins age 92 of Smyrna, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, November 19th at Carmichael Funeral Home Chapel in Smyrna with Rev. Cecil Dutton officiating. Interment will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta. Mr. Harkins had been a longtime resident of Smyrna and had worked for General Motors for over 40 years before retiring. He was a longtime member and Deacon of Second Baptist Church in Smyrna. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 2 sisters and 1 granddaughter. Surviving are his wife of over 65 years, LaVerne Harkins of Smyrna, 2 Daughters-Angela (Bee) Jay of Marietta, Yvonne Harkins (James) Hogan of Roswell, 4 Nephews, 4 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.
