

Mr. Blair was born on September 1, 1930 in Rockmart, son of the late Buford Charles Blair, Sr. and the late Lucille Baxter Blair. He was a graduate of both the Rockmart High School Class of 1948 and Georgia State University. Mr. Blair was a member of the Second Ave. United Methodist Church of Rome. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having retired in 1967 with 20 years of service. Following his military career, he retired from the Southern Company Services of Atlanta with 15 years of service. He was very active in the Fleet Reserve Association serving as president and secretary treasurer. Mr. Blair was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Sylvia Blair, after 40 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Ercel Turner Davis Blair of Rome; a daughter, Amy Nichols of Kennesaw; son, Chuck Blair and his wife Kathleen of Indianapolis, Indiana; step-children, Patsy Grubbs and her husband Jack of Aragon, Tammi Kirk and her husband David of Marietta and John Davis and his wife Terri of Rome; three grandchildren, Connor Blair, Bridget Blair and Nolan Blair; step-grandchildren, Craig Leatherwood, Nicole Rogers, Sheree Nicholson, Clay Osborne, Cody Osborne, Matthew Kirk, Alastair Kirk, Lee Price, Sommer Spendore, John Davis, Jr. and Macey Price; eighteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Blair will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 12 noon in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Tom McElroy officiating. Interment services will follow in the family lot of Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery of Marietta.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Connor Blair, Craig Leatherwood, Clay Osborne, David Kirk, John Davis, Jr. and Jack Grubbs.
