Billy was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Billy was known for his strong work ethic and determination. While working full-time as a floor sweeper at the Coats & Clark thread mill, he graduated from South Cobb High School. Continuing to work full time, he later attended trade school for textiles and graduated in 1968. Through years of dedication and hard work, Billy worked his way up from floor sweeper to top management at Coats & Clark, where he remained until the mill closed in 1984.
After the closure, Billy continued providing for his family by working at a cabinet shop for three years, followed by three years with Lockheed Martin. He later joined the school system, where he faithfully served in many roles including custodian, head custodian, bus driver, and bus monitor.
During his time working in the school system, Billy discovered a passion for taxidermy. What began as a skill he learned turned into a hobby he deeply loved, and he continued practicing taxidermy until he was around 80 years old.
Billy enjoyed fishing, hunting, and taking care of his yard for as long as he was able. He also loved playing country music on his guitar for many years. After the passing of his beloved wife, Becky, his guitar was mostly laid to rest, but his love for music remained. Above all, Billy loved Jesus, his church family at The Grove, and most importantly, his family.
Billy will be remembered as a hardworking man, a devoted family man, and someone who loved life’s simple blessings.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 Cobb Parkway NW, Kennesaw, Georgia. A graveside service will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park.
Billy’s life was a testament to hard work, faith, and love for family, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
