

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday in the Chapel of Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with Rev. Dean Hunter officiating. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.
He was born and raised in Cherokee County and moved to Marietta in 1946, after serving in WWII. He retired from the Veterans Administration after 30 years of service. He also worked as a part-time barber from 1946-1975. He owned and operated the Alamo Barber Shop from 1975-1995. He invented the air cut, an at-home device used for cutting hair, especially useful for children’s haircuts, which he used at his shop. He was a charter member of Cloverdale Heights Baptist Church, which later became Holt Road Baptist Church. He was a member of Mason’s of Kennesaw Lodge #33 and the VFW. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and Chuck Arnold’s Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his daughter, Revonda (Don) Russell, Marietta; son, Brand (Donna) Hunt of Gulf Breeze, FL; brother, Lamar (Christine) Hunt of Acworth; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
