

Mr. David Lewis Pitman, age 79 of Austell, GA died May 8, 2016. Mr. Pitman was a native of Stone Mountain, GA and a United States Air Force veteran. He was a long-time employee of Georgia Power Company and retired as a Class A Mechanic after 23 years employment. An ordained Christian Minister, Mr. Pitman attended International Bible College in San Antonio, TX and various other training schools in preparation for ministry and as a Missionary in Durango, Mexico for 3 years. Mr. Pitman was a member of Open Bible Tabernacle in Marietta, GA and was continually involved in Christian Education and other endeavors for his church and friends. Mr. Pitman loved to travel, do wood working and being with his children and grandchildren, the joys of his life. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lorene Holder Pitman; sons, Russell Pitman and his wife, Cindy of Acworth, GA; Brian Pitman and his wife Crystal of Gray, GA; Douglas Pitman and his wife, Angie of San Antonio, TX; daughter, LeAnn Pitman Jones and her husband James of Taylorville, IL; sister, Kay Pitman Scarborough of Chamblee, GA; brother, Howard Pitman of Rome, GA; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14 at 1 p.m. at the Open Bible Tabernacle, 545 Lorene Drive, SW, Marietta, GA 30060, with the Reverend Jackie Sanders officiating. Mr. Pitman will lie in state at the church from 12 Noon until the service hour. A private interment with Military Honors will be held at Kennesaw Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday evening, May 13 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta (770) 424-4924.
