H. Elizabeth Dudley

Harriett Elizabeth ‘Lib’ Dudley passed away on November 4, 2014. She was 91. Lib was born in Seneca, SC on January 14, 1923 to parents Thomas and Lettie Hunnicutt. Lib was a RN and served at the United States Marine Hospital in New Orleans during WW II. After the war she moved with her husband Cecil to Marietta where she became the Surgical Operating Room Supervisor at the newly opened Kennestone Hospital. She worked there until her medical retirement in 1967. Ms. Dudley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marietta and the Phebian Sunday School class since 1952. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecil, son Brian, and loving granddaughter Beth. She was also predeceased by sisters, Jessie Burgess, Bennie Smith, Sarah Waldrep, Ann Duncan, and brothers, Tom Hunnicutt and James Hunnicutt. Ms. Dudley is survived by nephew and caregiver Pete Waldrep and numerous other nieces and nephews. Service will be held 2:00 pm at the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Marietta on Thursday November 6 with Dr. Bill Ross and Rev. Laurens Hudson officiating, preceded by visitation at 1:00 at the church. A private internment service will follow. Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
