

Helen Brooks Crowder, known affectionately as Helen, passed away on August 1, 2024 in Austell, GA at the age of 93. Born on September 7, 1930, in Blairsville, GA, Union County, Helen devoted her life to her family, her faith, and her community.
Helen graduated from Union County High School and embarked on a fulfilling career that began in the 1950s with a long tenure at Sears from 1958 to 1996. Even after her retirement, she continued to serve others as a volunteer at Wellstar Kennestone for over 15 years.
A committed Christian, Helen was actively involved in her churches, Olive Springs Baptist Church and New Salem Baptist Church, where she cherished participating in church activities and community service. Her favorite activities were Wednesday Night Supper and the yearly trips to the apple farms of North Georgia.
Helen's passion for travel brought her joy and enriched her life with experiences and memories. She was able to visit many countries around the world. Her spirit of adventure and her dedication to service were inspirations to all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Stanley and Stacey Crowder; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Nellie Brooks; and sisters, Lucille Cannon, Beatrice Stokes, and Betty B. Burns.
Visitation will be held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta, GA. Thursday August. 8 from 5-7 Memorial Services will take place on Friday at 2 pm at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Memorial Chapel, followed by a graveside service at Kennesaw Memorial Park. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home is assisting the family during this time. Helen's legacy of love, faith, and service will forever be remembered by those she touched.
